Google’s Market Share Is Declining – Its Official

Internally, we often discuss organic traffic rather than just organic search engine traffic. Users have many channels to find answers to search queries that fall outside Google. i.e. Instagram, TikTok etc. Google’s global search share has fallen below 90% for the first time since 2015. This provides further weight to the argument that businesses should look at the entire organic landscape rather than just Google.

Google Removes Breadcrumbs Mobile

Google has removed breadcrumbs from mobile search result snippets. Instead, they leave a domain link to the actual page result.

How does this impact your business? The goal is to improve the search experience by decluttering the results shown to users, particularly those on smaller screens. Keep an eye on your click-through stats to see if you see any significant changes around this date period. We wouldn’t expect to see any significant change but will keep an eye on this.

Most Expensive Keywords In The USA/UK 2024

According to research by Ahrefs, the most expensive key phrase was a staggering $1,490 per click. The key phrase in true American style is “car accident lawyer Edinburg,” which is not to be confused with Edinburgh, UK. This is a small city in Texas. Strangely, “How much money does Disney make a day” was 15 most expensive at $1000. In the UK, the gambling industry tends to top off with cost per click maxing around £150 per click. Based on this evidence, there is more money in legal claims than in gambling.

Is Google Blocking Rank-Checking Tools

Over the last couple of weeks, SEO’s have been reporting issues with rank tracking reporting. Although none of the major tools have openly admitted this at this time some are reporting delays in reporting. This is predominantly because these tools “scrape” Google to get their results. It also appears Google is beginning to require JavaScript for search. Some parties have suggested this is due to the massive volatility in search results. You can’t beat a good conspiracy. It’s either that or the work of Trump! (Allegedly)

Google Kicks Off 2025 With New Performance Max Features

Several changes are being made to Pmax campaigns in 2025. In the next few weeks, a campaign-level negative keyword tool will be rolling out. In addition, enhanced reporting, including insights into more info on search themes, is rolling out. Also included are two new betas to control age brackets and device targeting. All of the above are going to help support improved optimisation of Pmax campaigns and, in turn, results.
